Night And Moon by impia-dea Night And Moon by impia-dea
Having some fun with styles and this popped out.

I am half asleep as I type this so I am sorry if I don't make sense.

Ayla (the Moon) and Rajani (the Night) hanging out at night and always not far from one another. I'd type more but I am falling asleep, lol.

I really do love how this came out and it took a good few days to complete it :)

Rajani © :icondeus-nocte:
Ayla © to me

EDIT: T-thank you for the DD OAO. I wasn't expecting that at all.

Given 2013-11-09
=impia-dea plays with the composition in Night And Moon to create a graceful flow from the top to the bottom of the piece while being reminiscent of the yin-yang nature of the two characters portrayed. The style is elegant, dynamic and full of life, capturing the perfect mood for the piece! ( Featured by rydi1689 )

This is absolutely amazing!  I'm completely floored by this and thats not something I can say very often.  I love how minimal this is, yet full of detail, and how it has that storybook quality to it.  Your hard work certainly paid off!

Hey! I've heard of :icondeus-nocte:! Creator of Nox and magic...
Well, when you use quality characters and get permission to do it, I guess DDs just follow. Especially since :icondeus-nocte: got a DD before too and that's how I found out about her. :)

Hey man, I appreciate what you're trying to say, but this really should be about her piece, not me. :) It can be taken as a bit of an insult when you imply she only got the DD because of the presence of my character. I know you didn't mean any harm, but remember that for next time, okay?

Well, I wasn't deliberately trying to imply that, but whatever.
Daily Deviations very often get Comments that aren't quite about the piece... Don't know how many such Comments this one could have gotten though.

Not to butt in, but I don't believe its so much about the character as the art itself.  I've never heard of these characters, and I doubt I'll look into them more, but I think this piece is absolutely stunning.  Of course with DDs the person is bound to get comments not "quite" about the piece but at the same time it doesn't really justify doing so by basically saying "its okay because other people do it".  But this is simply my two cents.  Take it as you will but it is not meant to be offensive in any way.

Everybody's misinterpreting my Comment because it wasn't long enough. It's being taken much too literally and in too much of an absolute sense. Of course the art itself is the reason it got a DD. Who gets a DD just for the characters? Fanart MAYBE... sometimes...?
I usually don't comment on Daily Deviations because I often regret it.

Well it's really moreso the line in the top comment in saying when you use quality characters DDs follow.  To an outsider it reads as "draw a cool character and you'll be featured"  without giving merit to the art.  That's the part that's being misinterpreted.  I'd say in the future it's okay to mention the characters...because they are amazing and the subject of the picture as well, but it's also good to mention the skill or at least how well the characters were interpreted in the style.  Of course I'm not your mother or father so it's up to you to figure out how you want to approach comments on dA, but as a warning, if you don't say what you mean in a clear concise way it's probably going to step on some toes.  There's always a window of time before you hit submit comment to decide if what you say is something you really want to be said.

And that window doesn't matter if the only way I find out it's a bad idea is when people tell me how butthurt they got or how bad an idea it is.

All I have to do is never Comment on Daily Deviations at all unless my Comments there are spam to get people to visit my own page. (Or I know the artist already. That happened once.) There have been DDs where I said nothing but the most positive things I could think of and gotten walls of hate in response. Recently I had my entire morning ruined by walls of unpleasant Comments as long as this example one where trolls of the sort I wasn't expected descended upon me like white knights to tell me how bad a person I was for complimenting such a horrible, non-deserving-a-DD piece such as that. That's the exact type of situation I had on my mind when I said that Comments on Daily Deviations often are not about the piece. Those were all about me and how stupid I was for saying positive things, and how if I knew what was good for me I'd join the trolls.

And people who get Daily Deviations don't need anything constructive or criticizing anyway because their work is so perfect they got a DD.

So, for now on, I'll be like the person you were describing at the end of your other Reply, on your Journal, and give up on them, and for now on all the Comments I leave on Daily Deviations will all smell like :spam: . Just like this:
Hey, :iconkeo73650: !! If all's well right now for you, butt into this conversation right now! :XD:

So I wasn't going to respond because I thought the issue had been settled, but this seems to be getting out of hand.

Listen. You are getting far too defensive. I wasn't accusing you of insulting her, because from the times I HAVE talked to you, you have been nothing but polite and I had no reason to believe you would purposefully mean it as an insult. That said, I still brought it up because I could see how it can be misinterpreted, and I wanted to make sure you knew so you could avoid it in the future.

I understand that, if it's happened before, it's easy to throw up your arms and take it as an accusation. But constructive criticism doesn't only apply to artwork--it applies to anything in life, whether it be a different skill, an attitude, or even yourself as a person. In my original comment, that's what I was doing: giving you feedback on your tact.

If you are consistently having problems with people misinterpreting what you say, you need to analyze what you're saying and figure out what's going wrong. I'm not saying that you need to reevaluate yourself at every dumb comment you get, but to just swear off commenting at all is a terrible way to handle it.

It comes down to understanding the other person's view point, taking it into consideration, and deciding if you'll take their advice or not. If you offended someone without meaning to, just apologize, explain what you meant, and move on. It's no biggie, just a miscommunication.

Everyone, including myself, has said something with the best of intentions, meant as a compliment, and then had it taken the wrong way. But we just gotta learn from it, like anything else.

Well first of all I'm quite sorry for your experience.  I do believe in moments where you find yourself being driven into a corner, often from things you say, you must take a step back and evaluate yourself.  I don't believe people will hate on a single person for no reason.  DDs don't mean there isn't room for improvement or that the art is perfect.  It simply means that the gallery director thought the piece stood out to THEM.  I've seen incomplete works get DDs which I think is unfair to the artist because they are having a WIP featured and not a finished refined product.  A lot of times if you read comments or talk to an artist that has recieved a DD they will tell you it wasn't their best work.  It's bound that people will disagree that a work is good or that a work is bad.  However, that isn't the artists fault that they got a "reward" for something that someone thinks isn't good.  I try to make it a point to tell people not to hate the artist because they received recognition that they didn't ask for.  Your job as the commenter is to simply express what you feel about the picture in a way that would come off as polite even if you are saying they are the worst artist in the world its best to say it in a way that doesn't make them want to give up.  When you shrug, say "whatever" or do anything that would sound offensive in person it'll sound twice as offensive online.  If a person doesn't agree that something should be made a DD it shouldn't be said to the artist that tried to make something good,  arguments should be taken to the gallery director that rewarded them.

As for your comic, I think it's done well however I would look into further study on placement of panels.  It's hard to figure out exactly where to read next.  The last thing you'll see in professional comics are arrows directing the viewer.  The placement of panels should flow in a way that naturally guides the viewer's eyes.
